The monument comprises the remains of a long cairn of Neolithic date surviving as a grassed-over stony mound.
The monument lies in rough pasture, on the spine of a ridge at around 170m OD. It comprises the remains of a long cairn measuring some 55m in length WNW-ESE and tapering from approximately 14.8m in breadth at the ESE end to about 8.5m at the WNW. It stands about 1m high. Within the body of the cairn are the foundations of numerous later structures, some sub-circular in form, which may themselves be of considerable antiquity. A prone slab at the ESE end may represent part of a collapsed former burial chamber.
The area to be scheduled encompasses the cairn and an area around it in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is rectangular with maximum dimensions of 115m WNW-ESE by 45m as marked in red on the accompanying map.
