Description

The monument comprises the remains of a group of cairns and possible domestic structures of prehistoric date.

The monument lies on a gently sloping hillside in rough pasture at around 280m OD. It comprises numerous cairns, up to 6m in diameter lying around the N edge of an area of marshy ground. Several of the cairns exhibit signs of structural complexity and the group may contain funerary as well as clearance cairns. Some may also represent the remains of small domestic structures.

The area to be scheduled encompasses the visible remains and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is irregular in shape with maximum dimensions of 140m NW-SE by 60m as marked in red on the accompanying map.
