Description

The monument comprises the remains of a palisaded settlement of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.

The monument lies in arable farmland at around 30m OD. It comprises a roughly circular enclosure some 45m in diameter defined by a palisade trench with a N-facing entrance. Inside the enclosure are the remains of a roughly circular structure defined by a palisade trench some 12m in diameter. Some 4m to the SW of the enclosure is a darker patch about 4m in diameter apparently relating to an associated building.

The area to be scheduled encompasses the enclosure and an area around it in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 90m as marked in red on the accompanying map.
