A Scheduled Monument in Goathland, North Yorkshire

Booth Stone

Uploader's Comments

Not far from the round barrow about 250yards to the South West in open moorland is a memorial stone called the Booth Stone. It is marked as such on the OS maps. The plaque on the stone reads as follows: "In memory of John Booth who died on this spot September 5th 1853. Aged 81. He was gamekeeper to Richard Hill Esq. of Thornton for 56 years."
