Located above May Beck on th eold Robin Hoods Bay Road (track) where it joins the old Fish Road (track)from Saltersgate. It consists of a medieval cross base with a boundary stone fitted into the socket. The boundary stone has the letter C engraved on it, this stands for Cholmley and marked the edge of the Cholmley estate. The cross is probably named after John de Steyngrave, the Abbott of Whitby (1245-1258). this photo was taken in December 2011
