I thought this was actually the Market Cross as it is situated in the old market area. At least that is what i have been led to believe. This photo was taken before it was fenced it off. The cross itself used to be much much taller and i was told that it was one of the tallest crosses of any village/market cross, something like 18-22 feet? The cross is a focal point for many kinds of celebration and commemoration throughout the year. Hard to photograph as its very close to the bank.
