Description

The monument consists of house-sites dating to the medieval and earlier post-medieval period. This is a settlement where previous house sites are now unoccupied, but visible as earthworks, crop or soil marks. The earthworks form a series of at least eight building platforms and a hollow way probably representing the remains of a small extra mural development outside the former Kerry Gate. Some of the platforms have since been built over. A settlement is depicted in this vicinity on cartographic sources from 1610 and the eighteenth century.

The monument is of national importance for its potential to enhance our knowledge of medieval settlement organisation. It retains significant archaeological potential, with a strong probability of the presence of associated archaeological features and deposits.
