The monument comprises a souterrain of prehistoric date. The monument is a semi-subterranean, passage-like structure thought to have been used for storage in the later prehistoric period. It is located in the garden at the N corner of Buchaam farmhouse. Although partly destroyed, the roofed section of the souterrain curves from the entrance 4-5m S towards the farmhouse. This monument was originally scheduled in 1937, but the scheduled area was inadequately defined. The monument is being rescheduled to clarify the extent of the protected area.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may survive as yet undiscovered. It is rectangular measuring approximately 8m by 10m, and bounded on the north-east by the farm drive, and on the south-west by a garden path, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
