Description

1806. Simple near-square plan, boulder rubble, tall piend roof

with short ridge; small gablet with bellcote having ball

finial W. wall, 2 large gothick windows with original basket

tracery sashes S. wall, 2 gothick doorways, N. wall. Interior:

woodlined with cove ceiling, horsehoe gallery on square

wooden columns reeded to front, good original ogee-canopied

pulpit with precentor's box and other original fittings;

original door furniture; 1760 John Mowat bell; fragment of

sculptured stone; R.S. 1669 panel, 1671 ladle, and 2 badly

damaged mediaeval effigies preserved within church. Some

minor alterations and repairs 1934.
