This crannog, a dwelling place on an artificially constructed or enlarged island, is situated near the S shore of Loch Awe, 510m to
the N of Fincharn farmsteading.
Investigations in 1972 by a naval sub-aqua team confirmed that this island is indeed a crannog.
The area to be scheduled is circular on plan and measures 40m in diameter, to include the crannog and an area of the loch bed around
it in which associated remains may survive, as marked in red on the attached map.
