The monument comprises a ring ditch house of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument consists of a broad penannular ditch, some 4m wide, forming an enclosure approximately 20m in external diameter with a wide NW entrance. A dark cropmark in the interior may represent the remains of occupation material. There is a slight possibility that the site may represent the remains of a funerary mound or ritual enclosure, rather than a settlement.
The area to be scheduled encompasses the visible cropmarks together with an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is rectilinear with maximum dimensions of 70m NW-SE by 100m, as marked in red on the accompanying map.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to contribute to our understanding of prehistoric house construction and settlement activity.
