The monument comprises the remains of a rectilinear enclosure of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies in arable farmland at around 120m OD. It comprises a roughly square enclosure some 30m E-W by about 25m N-S, within a ditch approximately 2m wide. There are a number of other prehistoric domestic sites in this area, including an unenclosed settlement some 350m to the SSW.
The area to be scheduled encompasses the enclosure and an area around it in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 60m as marked in red on the accompanying map.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to contribute to our understanding of prehistoric settlement and economy. Its importance is enhanced by its proximity to sites of similar date in the vicinity.
