Description

The monument comprises a settlement of prehistoric date, visible as cropmarks on oblique aerial photographs.

The monument lies in arable farmland at around 20m OD. There is a circular ditched enclosure measuring about 25m in diameter with the ditch about 1m wide, inside of which there is a crescent-shaped cropmark, representing the remains of a circular building about 10m wide. Partially overlapping the NE of the circular enclosure there is a rectilinear ditched enclosure measuring about 25m NNW-SSE by at least 12m transversely; the W side is not visible. Other cropmarks in the vicinity may represent the remains of associated structures.

The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is circular with a diameter of 80m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
